Creating One-of-a-Kind Feature Walls for Dapper Laughs’ Studio: A Journey from Vision to Reality
We recently had the privilege of working on a truly unique project for Dan O’Reilly, better known as Dapper Laughs. You may know Dan from his rise to fame as a comedian, podcaster, and social media sensation. His brand of humor has built him a loyal following, and his influence continues to grow. In addition to his public work, Dan is always striving to innovate, whether it’s with his comedy, his podcast studio at The Vault in Morden, or his latest achievement or registering MATES (Men and Their Emotions) as an official Charity.
Dan reached out to me personally, saying, “Ash, I’m building a studio in my garden, can you help?” As a fan of Dan’s journey and what he stands for, I immediately hopped in the car and went over to see the space. He wanted a space where he could test out material, film content, host meetings, and of course, plug his fantastic tour. I’ve seen it, and if you enjoy Dan’s content, it’s a must-see! His brief was simple: “It’s got to look sick.” He wanted something completely unique, a standout backdrop that would reflect his style and the one-of-a-kind projects he works on.
Turning a Vision Into a Studio Reality
After a few hundred WhatsApp messages, countless images, and bouncing ideas off each other, we crafted a vision together. Incorporating brick-effect panels, LED lighting, neon signs, and a mix of different surface coverings, the concept for the studio started to take shape. But let’s face it—no amount of messaging and images could have prepared us for how incredible it would look in reality.
Dan’s vision was vague, but we knew we had the expertise to bring it to life. We created renders to give him a rough idea, which he loved. Once we got the thumbs up, it was time to make it happen. We teamed up with Creation Construction and HPW Electrical to ensure everything ran smoothly. We connected the studio to his home, installed a dedicated PCB board, and set up the electrical work to make the space fully functional.
The Design Process: From Consultation to Execution
Dan’s initial idea was something simple, but as the design process unfolded, we knew it had to be much more than that. We worked closely with Dan, getting his feedback and fine-tuning every detail. The goal was to not only create a visually stunning space but to make it functional for his day-to-day work.
During our consultation, we discussed materials, lighting, and layout. Our design team carefully selected materials that would complement each other, from brick-effect feature walls to soft lighting. Each decision was made with precision, keeping Dan’s bold style in mind.
Once the design concept was approved, we went to work. Over the course of several days, we transformed the garden studio into a space that exceeded even our expectations. We added details like hidden lighting strips, neon accents, and textured surfaces that added depth and character. Every part of the studio was crafted to create an environment that would make anyone go, “Wow.”

When Dan and his family returned from their travels, the big reveal was finally here. As he walked in, his face said it all. His garden studio was no longer just a backyard project—it was a creative haven, a space to inspire his content, and a place he could be proud of. The LED lighting created a warm ambiance, the brick-effect walls gave it an industrial vibe, and the seamless integration of every feature made it truly one-of-a-kind.
