Luxury Home Spa | Calm, Sophisticated Wellness Space

A home spa is one of the most demanding tile projects in residential design. Every surface must simultaneously manage water, heat, humidity, and bare feet — while creating an environment of complete calm. There is no room for compromise on performance, and there is no forgiveness for a surface that fails the atmosphere. For this full home spa in Sussex, we chose Mare di Sabbia: a large-format porcelain with the quiet warmth of natural sandstone and the structural integrity to meet every technical requirement.

Mare di Sabbia was used across all three zones. In the main spa room, 120×278 cm polished slabs were laid full-height on all four walls, their scale eliminating visible grout lines almost entirely. The result is closer to a wrapped stone interior than a tiled room — a seamless envelope of warm, pale material that changes character with every shift in light and hour of the day.

In the shower enclosure, the same tile in an anti-slip finish provides confidence underfoot without altering the palette or interrupting the material story. The steam room, with its extreme humidity and temperature conditions, uses a matt finish — technically correct for the environment, visually continuous with everything around it.

The three zones read as one. That continuity is everything in a space like this. The moment you notice a change in material or a break in the surface, the spell is broken. Here, it holds.
